September 8, 2011 - Vermont Flood Relief

As many of you know, I’m from Vermont and live in Southern Vermont.  Although I, personally, did not suffer from Hurricane Irene, most of Southern Vermont did.  Including my home town.  The roads and bridges were washed away etc.  But most heart wrenching are the personal stories of whole houses being washed away, including one in our area.  People having nothing to start over with.  And as is the case in so many areas where the economy is in hardship, many of the people were uninsured or under insured.

I am asking for contributions of clothing, bedding, household goods.  Anything that you have and do not need.  I will bring them up to Vermont and leave them at this wonderful thrift shop - Twice Blessed – Marianne is gathering these items and, as a long standing member of the community, has set up a method of distribution.  So drop by goods whenever you can, on the front porch.  I’ll be in CT Thursdays to Saturdays, so best to drop them by end of week.  If you want to contribute money, make it out to “Stewardship Project” and we’ll get the cash to them.  But mostly, bring your goods.  I'll be making the trip up to VT on Saturday, September 17th after noon.  So please bring stuff to the office by then.

Stewardship Project Truck for pick ups:  Truck that was donated did not work out, so keep an eye out for a donated vehicle or very cheap that can hook up to the small utility trailer and make the weekly pick ups.  Thanks.

Home Depot pick up was slim this week.  A large sliding glass door screen, the ‘grill’ work for 2 glass doors, that is the wooden grill that makes a full piece of glass look like small panes.  That’s about it this time.  I’ll be picking up next week.  Sue is on vacation, so small pick up.

Anything that is still left over by September 17th will go to Vermont

That’s about all there is.  “all the news that isn’t”

Later - m
